North Carolina Football 2012 Season Preview

Unc Football Jersey, The North Carolina Unc Football Jersey Tar Heels are coming off a 7-6 campaign that was mired by controversy after Butch Davis was fired in July over an NCAA investigation. He was subsequently replaced by defensive coordinator Everett Withers. The investigation led to a postseason ban in 2012 for UNC so they will not have any chance to play in the ACC Title game or a bowl game.

UNC has hired Larry Fedora to be its next head coach, and he looks to have inherited a pretty good situation aside from the postseason ban. The Tar Heels welcome back 13 starters and a plethora of talent from last season\'s squad.

Offense

The Tar Heels boasted one of the best offenses in the ACC last season, scoring 28.0 points and averaging 393 yards/game. They return seven starters on offense and should be even better in 2012 as the returning starters include some of the best players on this side of the ball.

Junior Bryn Unc Football Jersey Renner returns as one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC. Renner burst on the scene completing 68.3% of his passes 3,086 yards with 26 touchdowns and 13 interceptions as a sophomore last year. He has the potential to put up even bigger numbers in 2012.

Sophomore running back Goivani Bernard had an outstanding freshman campaign, rushing for 1,253 yards on 5.2/carry with 13 touchdowns. Bernard also caught 45 balls for 362 yards and a score, and he could easily lead the ACC in rushing this year. Backing him up will be junior AJ Blue and talented freshman Romar Morris.

Their biggest loss on offense comes at receiver, where Dwight Jones went undrafted before signing with the Houston Texans. They do return senior Erik Highsmith and senior Jheranie Boyd. They also add in four highly touted receivers, and sophomore TE Eric Ebron also returns.

This offensive Unc Football Jersey line will look to be even better in 2012 as eight of their top 10 are returning. UNC has four starters and 93 career starts coming back. Second-team All-ACC LT James Hurst and second-team All-ACC LG Jonathan Cooper lead the way. This unit looks to be one of the best offensive lines in the ACC.

Defense

Their defense may need improvement as the Tar Heels surrendered 24.8 points and 365 total yards/game last season. UNC returns six starters on defense, but they lose arguably their two best players.

Their biggest loss comes at the defensive line where two-time first-team All-ACC DE Quinton Coples was selected in the first round of the NFL draft. They now move to a new 3-3-5 scheme which calls for a hybrid DE/OLB. Two starters return up front in junior DE Kareem Martin and senior DT Sylvester Williams.

The linebacker corps also loses its best player in first-team All-ACC LB Zach Brown, who was taken in the second round by the Tennessee Titans. They do return their #2 tackler in senior MLB Kevin Reddick. Sophomore BAN Norkeithus Otis and sophomore WLB Travis Hughes, both talented, are still quite raw.

The secondary returns three players with at least eight career starts. Senior RAM Gene Robinson and junior CAT Tre Boston are the best of the bunch. The new 3-3-5 scheme will emphasize speed, and the Tar Heels have no shortage of it in the secondary.

ACC Coastal Division Prediction - 2nd Place

The Tar Heels certainly have as much talent returning as any team in the Coastal Division. The only reason why this team will finish second behind Virginia Tech is the fact that their fate is already sealed by the NCAA and they will not play in the postseason no matter where they finish. Players could have a hard time staying focused and motivated, but an easy schedule in the ACC will prove to be an advantage for them.
